About EdLeader Exchange
Why EdLeader Exchange?
GLISI provides systemic solutions to improve education leadership in Georgia and support leaders to achieve results. In 2007, GLISI began searching for a solution that would improve education leadership nationwide through the sharing of knowledge from multiple sources. GLISI, like many other organizations, creates valuable knowledge to improve education leadership that was only being shared internally with Georgia clients. GLISI wanted to create a learning and performance culture in the area of education leadership for the benefi t of all leaders.
What is EdLeader Exchange?
EdLeader Exchange is an interactive online learning community, serving education leaders throughout Georgia and beyond. EdLeader Exchange provides leaders looking for knowledge, tools, and resources with the information they need in one place. It also allows them to network with others and share their own work with fellow knowledge seekers.
EdLeader Exchange creates opportunities for leader-to-leader sharing based on proven tools, results, and lessons that have improved performance. We believe that most “experts” are not only in the research and academic fi elds, but also practitioners in the fi eld doing this work daily. EdLeader Exchange strives to capture and disseminate these excellent practices and to stimulate new practices that will improve education leadership, create a performance culture, and drive results for improved student achievement.
EdLeader Exchange is a knowledge sharing (KS) system that supports cultures of continuous improvement in schools. It aims to apply the principles of knowledge management to a broad-based community of individuals, organizations, and communities. Knowledge management is a process through which organizations generate value from intellectual and knowledge-based assets. Education leaders have tremendous intellectual assets – best practices, action research, practical solutions, and thoughtful analysis. EdLeader Exchange seeks to capture these valuable ideas so they can be shared with and leveraged by leaders across the nation. This includes a blend of business and education examples, experiences, and products, as we seek resources from all disciplines to support the improvement of education leaders.
The online learning community, EdLeader Exchange, is a knowledge sharing tool that allows users to learn, connect, and contribute. For education leaders who need fast access to proven resources they can trust, EdLeader Exchange is a comprehensive site for tools, best practices, research, and networking. Users can fi nd multiple types of trusted, peer-reviewed resources such as research reports, policy briefs, tools, case studies, book reviews, and articles.

Who are Partners of EdLeader Exchange?
Funded by the Wallace Foundation, GLISI and a team from the University of Georgia worked together to create EdLeader Exchange.
GLISI teamed with faculty of the University of Georgia’s College of Education to design and develop EdLeader Exchange. Dr. Wendy Ruona and Dr. Janette Hill, faculty in the Adult Education program, partnered with others at UGA to lead the design and development of ELE. This team brought a repertoire of unique competency around knowledge sharing, knowledge management, and instructional design and technology. The past experience of the development team and Drs. Ruona’s and Hill’s expertise along with GLISI’s design team (Executive Director Gale Hulme, Policy Director Ann Duffy, Knowledge, Impact, and Marketing Manager Becky Shaver, and Senior Practice Leader Deb Page) allows for a dynamic team dedicated to producing a blended mix of education and business concepts to improve education leadership. GLISI and UGA have been able to apply KM/KS concepts/tools that have grown from and been traditionally used in corporations/business to the education leadership arena.
The Wallace Foundation seeks to support and share effective ideas and practices that will strengthen education leadership, arts participation, and out-of-school learning. Since 2001, the Foundation has supported education leadership work in Georgia, fi rst through the State Action for Education Leadership Project (SAELP) and later to support Georgia’s Cohesive Leadership System. Such a cohesive leadership system features well-coordinated state, district and school-level policies and practices aimed at ensuring that the standards, training and working conditions of school principals are far more supportive than is currently the case to their success as leaders of learning. The creation of EdLeader Exchange is one of the solutions supported through Wallace’s investment in Georgia.
